Treatments are used to attract new patients and offer new treatments to your existing patients more frequently. As a result, skin care services have a positive impact on the bottom line of any medical business. In addition to their financial benefits, skin treatments truly benefit your patient’s skin concerns. Your patients are so important to you at the end of the day. You should be helping them through your services as much as possible.

Expand your clinic with these skin treatments:

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses tiny needles to create small sized, controlled wounds in the skin. This trauma triggers the body’s natural healing process and causes stimulation of your natural collagen which will refresh and rejuvenate the appearance of your skin. This natural treatment can be used all over the face, the décolletage and the hands.

If your patients suffer from fine lines, acne scarring or pigmentation, they may benefit from the microneedling treatment. You will see results within two weeks and full results seen at six weeks post-treatment.
The Microneedling with an Introduction to Chemical Peel Training Course covers an in-depth look into two popular treatments and devices, including the handheld microneedling, The Collagen P.I.N (mechanical micro needling). This course will teach you the fundamental skills to integrate these unique procedures into your aesthetic clinic.

You can check out our Microneedling with an Introduction to Chemical Peel Training Course by clicking here.

Chemical Skin Peel

Chemical skin peels are a treatment that uses chemicals to remove the outer epidermal layers. They improve, rejuvenate, and refresh the complexion of the skin. Chemical peels have become one of the most popular treatments for improving skin quality. They are great for improving the condition and texture of the skin whilst reducing the signs of ageing. Chemical peels will also treat acne scars and pigmentation problems.

Our comprehensive Chemical Skin Peel Training Course will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills to immediately integrate these new techniques into your practice. Used as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with microneedling or dermaplaning it can provide excellent results for your clients.

Skin Boosters

If you’re looking for an additional boost in your skincare routine, look no further than skin boosters. Skin Boosters are a non-surgical procedure used for hydration and to minimise ageing on the face, neck and decolletage. Skin boosters stimulate collagen and elastin, aid the conversion of glucose to ATP and significantly improve skin texture and pigmentation. They are perfect for your patients if they want to achieve youthful, healthy-looking skin.

We offer a one-day training course in Skin Boosters, so you can provide your patients with a treatment for skin hydration and minimise ageing on the face. You can check out our Skin Booster Training Course by clicking here.

Over the past year Menopause has been lifted out of the shadows and hushed conversations to mainstream media. This coverage has allowed those going through this change to feel supported whilst offering them the necessary help to aid their transition along with working to educate everyone on this important topic.

So what can you do for your patients?

Menopause brings in many changes to a woman’s life which may not only change their appearance physically but can also affect them mentally. As aesthetic practitioners we can help ease this change by providing treatment to rejuvenate and provide positive changes both physically and mentally. Perimenopause and Menopause patients can be affected by the sudden change in their appearance, by using our artistic skill and treatments we can provide an array of options and packages to help address their areas of concern and leave them feeling happy and confident in their looks!

Main menopause symptoms:

  • Weight gain
  • Mood swings
  • Joint pain
  • Hair thinning
  • Loss of collagen
  • Increase of pigmentation and dry skin

Menopause Treatment: Skin Care

It is no secret that skincare needs to be addressed and altered as we move through our lives and begin the ageing process. Concerns we had in our 20’s may no longer be a worry but new concerns may arise in our 30’s and so on, so by switching up your products and using the help of a skincare specialist you will be getting the best out of your creams. Those going through perimenopause and menopause will notice difference within their skin from laxity to pigmentation. As with all treatments and products there is no one size fits all. By offering your patients skin assessments and skincare advice you will help them in creating a healthy foundation for treatments. In our clinics we stock a wide range of skin care for all conditions, we also offer facial assessments using our VISIA machine. We recommend our delegates look into stocking their own skincare as it is so important your patients are following their own routine so they are getting the best out of all their treatments. If you are not too sure about skincare we offer product training which discusses key ingredients, skin care conditions and how to perform as assessment, find out more here!

Taking the time to listen to your patient and work with them and their budget to create a skincare bundle to help their skin be its best through this time!

Menopause Treatment: Skin

Offering a course of skin treatments will help target visible ageing. Chemical peels help to address and treat skin conditions such as fine lines. As well as rejuvenating the skin with anti-ageing effects. The skin peel works by penetrating into the epidermis reaching a deeper point than any home skincare products. You can also offer this treatment alongside microdermabrasion or microneedling, coupled together the treatments unblock pores leaving you with immediately clearer and brighter skin.

Microneedling treatment targets fine lines, acne scarring and pigmentation the treatment stimulates natural collagen which refreshes and rejuvenates the appearance of the skin. This natural treatment can be used all over the face, the décolletage and the hands.

CPL treatments will also help stimulate collagen and help to tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and help to combat skin concerns such as pigmentation.

All of the above treatments achieve optimum results by being completed within a course of three, by packaging up these treatments you are helping to encourage repeat business and have your patients get the most out of their treatments!

Menopause Treatment: Injectables

Anti-wrinkle treatments, the most popular treatment when it comes to anti-ageing, the injections will help to relax the muscles causing wrinkles.

Dermal fillers will add volume into the areas where patients are noticing sagging, such as around the eyes and jawlines.

Skin boosters will add hydration to the patients skin, increasing skin health and achieving a natural glow!

As with all treatments, you will need to invite your patients for a consultation will you will discuss their concerns and use your expert understanding to come up with a treatment plan which combines treatment.

Menopause Treatment: Hair

Another common side effect of perimenopause and menopause is hair thinning, this can be helped by treatments such as PRP and microneedling. Helping to regenerate growth cells and encourage hair growth. Both treatments will need to be performed within a course and you can also look at adding some supplements for hair growth to create a hair growth package for your patients containing treatment and supplements.

The opposite end of hair loss is hair growth, another common side effect. Due to the ever changing oestrogen and testosterone levels, some patients will notice more facial hair, this is when the testosterone is more apparent than the oestrogen, creating hair follicles in places you may not of noticed them before! Laser hair removal is a popular cure for such concerns and can be used across the whole body needing a course of 6-8 treatments per area.

Packages

You know as much as we do that a one off treatment will not solve the concerns your patient may have. They will need a combination of treatments over a time period to achieve best results. Developing your own packages in house for patients going through the menopause or bespoking packages per person will help to bring in new clientele whilst also catering for your existing client base who may not know about all the services you offer. The packages will see a steady income for your company and it will also allow your patients to meet their appearance and skin ideals.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy and Dermaroller (microneedling) are both popular choices when it comes to skin rejuvenation. The remarkable results of the treatments are often seen throughout the beauty world as well as among ‘A listers’. Not only do these treatments create fantastic results on their own but once combined the results from working together are phenomenal. Here we look at each procedure in PRP vs Dermaroller and the benefits of combining the two into your patients treatment plan.

First things first, lets understand them a bit better…

What is PRP and how does it work?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy otherwise known as PRP is a natural treatment used to rejuvenate the skin. The results show a fresher, brighter appearance.

The treatment uses the bodies own growth factors to promote healthier younger skin. Using the Cellenis system, blood is drawn and then spun in the centrifuge machine which separates the platelet-poor plasma and platelet-rich plasma.

The clear (good) plasma is re-injected back into the skin which stimulates soft tissue rejuvenation. This wakes up the bodies own repair process which stimulates new elastin and collagen.

Platelet rich plasma therapy is suitable for all skin types and recovery time is little. Due to the nature of the treatment,  no chemicals are used, only the bodies own repair system to promote healthier skin with long lasting results.

What is Microneedling and how does it work?

Microneedling therapy is a treatment that stimulates the skin to repair itself safely and naturally. The roller contains clinically proven micro needles which when rolled over the skin cause minimally invasive puncturing and pin point bleeding, The body is then alerted and begins it’s healing process by sending collagen to the surface of the skin to repair the ‘damage’.

This influx of collagen begins to fix certain problems in that area;

  • Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Minimising acne scarring
  • Refreshing the skin

The benefits of combining

Kim Kardashian is a big fan of the benefits of combing treatments

Both of the treatments work wonders on the skin by using a natural approach to skin rejuvenation. Although they may sound similar they work in different ways to achieve maximum results. Combining both therapies allows them to work hand in hand together to achieve maximum effect.

Both treatments work by controlled wounding of the skin which in turn stimulates collagen, elastin and fibroblast activity. The added growth factors from the PRP then intensify when combined with Dermaroller.

Dermaroller and PRP also carry great benefits when combined with other skin therapies. Making them a great component in your skin care regime.

Patients undergoing these treatments can see results such as:

  • Reduction of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Smoother skin appearance
  • Reduction of scars
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Even skin tones
  • Lightening of hyper-pigmentation & skin tone
  • Pore appearance reduction
  • Glowing, fresher skin
  • Younger complexion

Meghan Markles Go To Skin Guide!

Meghan Markles skin continues to luminate and produce a radiant glow, so what is her secret?

It’s quite clear she is passionate about skincare working alongside Nichola Joss, a skincare expert who holds an impressive catalog of stars she has helped glow when it comes to products and routines.

A firm favourite of Meghans continues to be chemical peeling, a non invasive treatment which tightens pores and eliminates all imperfections. Followed by either a microdermabrasion or IPL, to help clear the skin of impurities for a deep cleanse. Skin expert Nichola suggests for this treatments to be carried out every two months but should then stop a month before any big event (like a royal wedding!) and change the focus of cleansing to hydration.

Self-massage to look younger

Another favourite of Meghan is the simple yet effective facial massages. Recently dubbed “facial yoga”, an easy addition to add to your skincare routine.

American researchers at Northwestern University in Chicago trailed this new craze for five months, with volunteers performing daily facial massage movements. Some of the movement including opening the mouth wide to form an O, smiling as much as possible to work the cheek muscles before massaging your cheekbones with your fingertips, or smiling without showing your teeth. repeated five times slowly. The result: firmer skin and smoother lines.

To work on the neck area you can look up and face the ceiling whilst opening and closing the mouth. With your shoulders back, lift up your chin until you tension the neck skin, without bending your neck and keeping your back straight. The face is facing the ceiling. In this position, open and close the mouth slowly and normally, feeling the tension in the neck.

To smooth the forehead, pull up your hair with your hands and look straight ahead. Slowly lower the eyebrows, but do not bring them closer together. Close your eyes and always hold the top of the forehead that remains smooth. Remove the hand and let the eyebrows rise, without wrinkling the forehead.

Our clinic offers different treatments according to your skin type and especially same treatment as Meghan Markle: the chemical peeling that makes your skin brighter and tighten your pores to restore healthy skin.

How To Look After Your Skin in The hot weather! cosmetic courses

Our patients often ask how do they look after their skin in the hot weather. Skin specialist Simona recommends the following steps:

  1. Try to eat food rich in vitamins and minerals. Broccoli is a good source of vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids that are important for skin health. It also contains sulforaphane, which may help prevent skin cancer and protect your skin from sunburn. Watermelon, this fruit is a hydration hero, and fluids are exactly what you need when the heat is on. Tomatoes is another great option to choose with your meal in a summer as it is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C.
  2. You must also drink plenty of water in summer to keep your skin looking youthful and fresh. Skin exposed to sun, hot temperatures and high winds cause dry skin, sunburn or skin damage. If dehydrated, the skin loses its elasticity. The skin is the body’s largest organ and hydration moves water through all of the body’s membranes, keeping skin elastic and soft.
  3. EYN-C20 SMInvest in a solid vitamin C serum. In the clinic we offer EYN Vitamin C serum. Clinically proven L-ascorbic acidat its peak concentration of anti-oxidant activity which is quickly absorbed to remove free radicals to prevent skin damage, helping to brighten skin and maintain a youthful appearance. The formulation is supported with ferulic acid to create this light effective day serum.
  4. Make sure all your makeup in non-comedogenic. If your makeup is full of pore-clogging ingredients, you’ll likely start breaking out as soon as your sweat and makeup mingle. Check your labels and be diligent about wearing the cleanest, lightest makeup during the summer months.
  5. Don’t forget to hydrate! Moisturising during summer can seem tough, if you don’t find the right product for your skin, as it can often feel heavy and clog pores. However, finding the right cream to keep your skin protected, alongside an SPF will do wonders for you and prevent itching.

SPF! SPF! SPF! First things first, apply SPF every single day. This will not only protect against sunburn but also from environmental damage.

The Aesthetics Knowledge Hub is a great place for you to find answers to frequently asked questions. We recommend having a look at the Skin Booster Training Knowledge Hub.

When it comes to skincare its hard to understand just what your skin needs. Met with millions of different creams, lotions and potions we are on the hunt to find the perfect products for us! The first step in finding your ideal skincare routine is understanding your skin type and we are here to help you do just that.

When we look at the anatomy of the skin, we notice that its surface is covered with a slight film, this is a mixture of sweat and sebum.

Sebum forms a protective film on the surface of the skin, which prevents water from evaporating and helps fight against germs.

Sweat eliminates heat in the first place, but it is also responsible for skin hydration and balance.

The quantity and quality of the skins film determine the skin type, varying on age and health, climate, pollution and personal hygiene.

The Different Types of Skin

There are four main types of skin: normal, dry, oily, and combination when it comes to understanding your skin type.

Normal skin: the ideal skin type

Neither too oily nor too dry, normal skin is comfortable, does not shine, does not tug, does not blush at sudden changes in temperature. It is often the result of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Normal skin needs fewer products.

Dry skin

Dry skin can be confused with dehydrated skin but both are very different in what they need! Dry skin lacks sebum (that thing we spoke about at the beginning), which not having enough of will cause water to evaporate from the skin, thus causing dry skin. Therefore we need to nourish the skin before hydrating.

Oily skin

Oily skin is caused by an excess of sebum, the opposite of dry skin! You can tell oily skin by the skin glossing, enlarged pores, blackheads and dullness. You skin can be oily for a variety of reasons, including pollution and using the wrong products.

Combination Skin

Combination skin is a mixture of two skin types and is characterized by:

  • oily skin on the middle zone, or T zone
  • normal or dry skin on the cheeks.

With combination skin you will find you may need to try different types of products for each area.

So, how do we determine our skin type?

There are a number of ways we can determine our skin type from magnifying mirrors to purpose built machines, one which you can easily do at home would be the tissue test.

  1. Take off your makeup
  2. Clean the skin with soap and water
  3. Wait 30 minutes until the glands have worked hard enough
  4. Place a tissue on the face, like a mask, and press lightly for about ten seconds
  5. Remove the handkerchief and observe in the light

Result of the test:

  • There are traces of oil (transparencies in the light) all over the tissue: you probably have oily skin
  • There are traces of oil only in the middle zone (forehead, nose, chin): you probably have mixed skin
  • There is no trace on the tissue: you have normal skin or dry skin

Please note the above technique may give you an idea of your skin type but we would still recommend coming for a skin consultation at one of our clinics where our skin experts can talk through what your skin needs and build you a bespoke treatment and skincare plan.

Book yours by contacting the team on 01844 390110 / [email protected].

We consume it daily, whether on purpose or not, helping us to stay healthy and boost our immune systems but did you know the benefits Vitamin C has for the skin?

As an active energizer, it’s a key player in skincare as it helps with cell renewal, leaving your skin glowing with brightening and antioxidant action.

Vitamin C will start to show its results within a few weeks of adding it into your skincare routine, it’s used to prevent aging, reduce wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and spots. Promoting better healing of the epidermis and limits skin inflammations.  A great addition alongside your aesthetic treatments.

The best way to introduce it into your skincare routine is to use a facial cream enriched with moisturizing agents, such as oils. Serums have a higher dose and can contain upto 5 to 15% pure vitamin C. You can mix your serum with your day cream and apply it in the evening or morning!

To brighten the eyes you can also use a Vitamin C eye cream to help address crow’s feet or dark circles.

We also recommend that you space your application to avoid harming the skin, applying your Vitamin C products 2-3 times a week will help with this.

Our top tip: store your vitamin C care in your fridge – when you apply it, the cool consistency will help to tighten your skin!

Whether planned or not the majority of us seem to have accepted this challenge. Like myself many others we’ve spoken to have said I hopecosmetic courses no make up challenge my skin will be so much brighter, smoother and healthier without applying make up every day but why has this not happened? Instead for many of us our skin has become more oily and prone to breakouts even though we are putting less on it. With more time on our hands we appear to be more conscious than ever about the appearance of our skin and how to improve it. Here are a few tips that we think could help solve some of these unanswered questions.

  1. Change in routine – it’s thought that the vast change in out current lifestyles, stress implications and different sleep patterns are all playing a part on the appearance of our skin. It is said that a lack of skin decreases the moisture levels and PH of our skin resulting in a dull complexion and an increase in skin concerns.
  2. More snacks and alcohol – being at home for many of us is meaning more sugary snacks and alcohol are being consumed than we are used to in our normal daily lives. Lots of sugar can lead to inflammation in the body which can aggravate skin conditions we may already suffer with.
  3. Exercise – many of us are trying to stay healthy and exercise at home whilst on quarantine. It is important to thoroughly cleanse your skin and the area you are exercising in or any equipment you are using after exercise to reduce the build up of bacteria caused by the sweat. This build up of bacteria will block pores and increase breakouts.
  4. Hair – yes, along with no make up many of us are also reducing the amount we are washing our hair. Whilst this is good to cut down the products and heat we are using we need to be mindful not to let the hair follicles become too oily and this will transfer onto our skin. If we think how many times we play with our hair in a day this oil will transfer onto our hands and linen which will also end up on our skin.
  5. Pillows – along with our new quarantined lifestyle for a lot of people it is fair to say we are spending more time in bed or on the sofa during the day. This again increases the bacteria build up so it is important to wash and air these items more frequently than you usually would. Remember a clean pillow = cleaner skin.
  6. SPF – being in a world of anti ageing and skin health we cannot stress enough the importance of protecting your skin from UV and UVA damage. With the warmer months on the way it is vital to protect your skin. Skin conditions such as pigmentation and rosacea can be hugely improved with the use of a good daily SPF 50.

Whilst we carry on in a world very different to what we have known before it is vital that feeling good about your skin can really help to make us more positive and happy. With sharing some handy hints we hope we will all be leaving quarantine with the healthy fresh skin that we desire without the need for make up. #nomakeupquarantinechallenge
