What to look for in a Platelet Rich Plasma training course

Recently at Cosmetic Courses we have seen an influx of Platelet Rich Plasma training course enquiries. As with anyPlatelet Rich Plasma Training Course with Cosmetic Courses (1) course, it’s important to do your research before booking on especially when it comes to the products the course is using. The world of PRP is vast and should not be seen as a one size fits all treatment. Multiple courses are needed to cover the different areas such as hair, face, and body along with understanding different client needs and managing expectations.

There are also many PRP machines on the marketing, all using different centrifuge methods. In this blog we are going to discuss what to look for when choosing your Platelet Rich Plasma Training Course and the machines to perform your treatments.

What qualifications do I need to do PRP?

At Cosmetic Courses we only train doctors, dentists, and nurses with valid medical registration in our aesthetic courses including Platelet Rich Plasma training. Due to the nature of the treatment, our delegates need to have existing experience in taking blood and managing complications caused by trauma to the body.

Our courses are also taught by our expert faculty with extensive knowledge within their own medical fields, applying it to their aesthetic experience to lead example in safe and ethical practices within aesthetics.

What is PRP training?

Platelet Rich Plasma training is learning the fundamentals and practical elements of this sought-after treatment. PRP involves taking the patients own blood and spinning it within a centrifuge system to separate the good plasma. It is then injected back into the skin causing a slight trauma which urges the bodies own collagen supply to come forward and aid repair, working with the good plasma.

Developed over 40 years ago and used by dental and maxillofacial surgeons for its wound healing abilities, it made the move into aesthetics helping with skin rejuvenation, scarring, pigmentation, hair loss and ageing.

Who can administer PRP treatments?

Due to insurance policies PRP treatments can be administered by medically registered professionals with sufficient training behind them.

Choosing a PRP system

The original PRP machines used a buffy coat system, the same you would see within a laboratory to process blood samples for testing. With continued research and development, it became clear that using this system could cause contamination to PRP with red blood cells.

It later became apparent that by using certain types of tube when producing the PRP could result in some of the good plasma being left behind in the tubes when administering back into the skin, another area needed to be researched and developed further.

Centrifuge speed were monitored next, were they spinning fast enough to evenly split the samples, or were we not seeing the right results from the centrifuge and did it need improving…

Questions to ask when choosing your Platelet Rich Plasma training course:

  • What machines are you going to be trained in, do they have the relevant safety data and CE mark verification?
  • By using this machine how many of the platelets from the blood are delivered?
  • Can you vary the concentration of the machine?
  • Does the machine eliminate any red cell contamination?
  • Is the machine easy to use?
  • What areas will you be covering on your course?
  • Will there be practical experience on live models?
  • What support is available after and before the courses?

Cellenis PRP Centrifuge Systems

We are pleased to partner with Cellenis PRP for our Platelet Rich Plasma training courses, not only will you be taught in their machines and process but the PRP kits are available to purchase from us after your training.

Benefits of Cellenis PRP Centrifuge:

  • Advanced gel separation technology producing optimum prp formula
  • Significant preservation of platelet functionality
  • Platelets and Monocytes rest directly above the gel barrier. They are then re-suspended back into the plasma during the Cellenis preparation process.
  • Inflammatory red blood cells remain trapped beneath the gel barrier.
  • Neutrophils, cells that are harmful to the reparative environment are sequestered beneath the gel barrier.

Dermaplaning, Hollywoods worst kept secret. A go to in the a-list, this treatment is said to exfoliate the skin, leaving it radiant whilst also eliminating peach fuzz (those little hairs on your face that you see in the light). The tool used? A surgical scalpel. Yes, really. When it comes to dermaplaning treatment there’s a lot of questions, so we are here to answer them!

Three things to know about this new facial treatment offered in our clinics:

How does it work?

This exfoliating treatment removes the dead cells on the skins surface using a surgical scalpel. At the same time, eliminating all the hair that is there. The complexion is immediately boosted and regains radiance. How? The accumulation of dead cells is the cause of dull complexion and pimples (clogged pores and blocked hair follicles).

What are the results?

These are quite impressive – and visible right away! At first, you will notice some redness here and there and your skin may seem a little dry, but the side effects of this treatment are really minimal. So much so that it’s perfectly possible to book a dermaplaning session at lunch and be back in the office – about 40 minutes later – with an ultra glowy complexion. Only one must: apply sunscreen! After the treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun’s rays.

How long does this last?

The results will be visible for several weeks. Dermaplaning will eliminate dead cells that have been accumulated for more than three weeks, which means that a month of purified skin will follow. If you like to take care of your face (just like us), then you will like it: the fact of eliminating dead cells will allow the beauty products used daily to penetrate deeper into the epidermis and therefore to be better absorbed and more effectively. The skin becomes smooth and makeup glides evenly.

Meghan Markles Go To Skin Guide!

Meghan Markles skin continues to luminate and produce a radiant glow, so what is her secret?

It’s quite clear she is passionate about skincare working alongside Nichola Joss, a skincare expert who holds an impressive catalog of stars she has helped glow when it comes to products and routines.

A firm favourite of Meghans continues to be chemical peeling, a non invasive treatment which tightens pores and eliminates all imperfections. Followed by either a microdermabrasion or IPL, to help clear the skin of impurities for a deep cleanse. Skin expert Nichola suggests for this treatments to be carried out every two months but should then stop a month before any big event (like a royal wedding!) and change the focus of cleansing to hydration.

Self-massage to look younger

Another favourite of Meghan is the simple yet effective facial massages. Recently dubbed “facial yoga”, an easy addition to add to your skincare routine.

American researchers at Northwestern University in Chicago trailed this new craze for five months, with volunteers performing daily facial massage movements. Some of the movement including opening the mouth wide to form an O, smiling as much as possible to work the cheek muscles before massaging your cheekbones with your fingertips, or smiling without showing your teeth. repeated five times slowly. The result: firmer skin and smoother lines.

To work on the neck area you can look up and face the ceiling whilst opening and closing the mouth. With your shoulders back, lift up your chin until you tension the neck skin, without bending your neck and keeping your back straight. The face is facing the ceiling. In this position, open and close the mouth slowly and normally, feeling the tension in the neck.

To smooth the forehead, pull up your hair with your hands and look straight ahead. Slowly lower the eyebrows, but do not bring them closer together. Close your eyes and always hold the top of the forehead that remains smooth. Remove the hand and let the eyebrows rise, without wrinkling the forehead.

Our clinic offers different treatments according to your skin type and especially same treatment as Meghan Markle: the chemical peeling that makes your skin brighter and tighten your pores to restore healthy skin.

How To Look After Your Skin in The hot weather! cosmetic courses

Our patients often ask how do they look after their skin in the hot weather. Skin specialist Simona recommends the following steps:

  1. Try to eat food rich in vitamins and minerals. Broccoli is a good source of vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids that are important for skin health. It also contains sulforaphane, which may help prevent skin cancer and protect your skin from sunburn. Watermelon, this fruit is a hydration hero, and fluids are exactly what you need when the heat is on. Tomatoes is another great option to choose with your meal in a summer as it is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C.
  2. You must also drink plenty of water in summer to keep your skin looking youthful and fresh. Skin exposed to sun, hot temperatures and high winds cause dry skin, sunburn or skin damage. If dehydrated, the skin loses its elasticity. The skin is the body’s largest organ and hydration moves water through all of the body’s membranes, keeping skin elastic and soft.
  3. EYN-C20 SMInvest in a solid vitamin C serum. In the clinic we offer EYN Vitamin C serum. Clinically proven L-ascorbic acidat its peak concentration of anti-oxidant activity which is quickly absorbed to remove free radicals to prevent skin damage, helping to brighten skin and maintain a youthful appearance. The formulation is supported with ferulic acid to create this light effective day serum.
  4. Make sure all your makeup in non-comedogenic. If your makeup is full of pore-clogging ingredients, you’ll likely start breaking out as soon as your sweat and makeup mingle. Check your labels and be diligent about wearing the cleanest, lightest makeup during the summer months.
  5. Don’t forget to hydrate! Moisturising during summer can seem tough, if you don’t find the right product for your skin, as it can often feel heavy and clog pores. However, finding the right cream to keep your skin protected, alongside an SPF will do wonders for you and prevent itching.

SPF! SPF! SPF! First things first, apply SPF every single day. This will not only protect against sunburn but also from environmental damage.

Wearing a face mask has become as normal as putting your shoes on to go out, an essential to prevent the spread of harmful diseases. Unfortunately, it’s coming with a side effect,“maskne” the acne caused by a protective face mask. Whether it’s real acne or simple irritation, we are going to talk you through how to address. prevent and help your maskne.

For the past weeks, unless you are voluntarily confined to your home, it is impossible not to wear a mask for your daily activities where you are in the presence of fellow humans. Essential to curb the spread of the virus.

The phenomenon of maskne – the most common symptom being acne has been around for years and something which professional athletes can suffer with if their sport requires wearing a cap or visor that would rub the skin.

How to avoid maskne?

  1. Treat the mask as underwear and wash it frequently
  2. Choose your mask and maintain it – no sharing!
  3. Using a 100% cotton mask will allow your skin to breathe better than in a synthetic material
  4. Wash it regularly!

Simplify your skincare routine

Reduce your skincare routine down to the essentials: a mild soap-free cleanser and a mild fragrance-free moisturizer. The idea being that the least of the ingredients is preferable to the overflow. As for the moisturizing treatment, it has a double function: to moisturize the skin but also to protect it from the friction of the mask – we recommend EYN H2 ∞ – Endurance Moisturiser & NEOSTRATA | Daytime Protection Cream SPF23

In addition, it should be remembered that wearing the mask will intensify the diffusion of care on the skin. So with less, you get more. Knowing this, beware of the use of products containing acids or retinols. Because here, an intensification could be irritating. Doses and uses should be reduced, and under no circumstances should retinol treatment begin during this masked period.

At the end of the day when you remove your mask, treat your skin to another kind of mask, detox facial masks can provide skin with the vitamins it lacked being covered up – we recommend PEEL TO GLOW | Skin Bloom

Stop or break makeup (at least temporarily)

Avoid makeup, or use very light makeup. Prefer tinted moisturizing creams to foundation creams with a richer, oilier texture. We recommend a tinted SPF such as Heliocare or EYN, offering UV cover and a light tinted coverage

And remove make-up as soon as possible, using a more gentle micellar water. It won’t attack your skin. Then moisturize it.

When it comes to skincare its hard to understand just what your skin needs. Met with millions of different creams, lotions and potions we are on the hunt to find the perfect products for us! The first step in finding your ideal skincare routine is understanding your skin type and we are here to help you do just that.

When we look at the anatomy of the skin, we notice that its surface is covered with a slight film, this is a mixture of sweat and sebum.

Sebum forms a protective film on the surface of the skin, which prevents water from evaporating and helps fight against germs.

Sweat eliminates heat in the first place, but it is also responsible for skin hydration and balance.

The quantity and quality of the skins film determine the skin type, varying on age and health, climate, pollution and personal hygiene.

The Different Types of Skin

There are four main types of skin: normal, dry, oily, and combination when it comes to understanding your skin type.

Normal skin: the ideal skin type

Neither too oily nor too dry, normal skin is comfortable, does not shine, does not tug, does not blush at sudden changes in temperature. It is often the result of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Normal skin needs fewer products.

Dry skin

Dry skin can be confused with dehydrated skin but both are very different in what they need! Dry skin lacks sebum (that thing we spoke about at the beginning), which not having enough of will cause water to evaporate from the skin, thus causing dry skin. Therefore we need to nourish the skin before hydrating.

Oily skin

Oily skin is caused by an excess of sebum, the opposite of dry skin! You can tell oily skin by the skin glossing, enlarged pores, blackheads and dullness. You skin can be oily for a variety of reasons, including pollution and using the wrong products.

Combination Skin

Combination skin is a mixture of two skin types and is characterized by:

  • oily skin on the middle zone, or T zone
  • normal or dry skin on the cheeks.

With combination skin you will find you may need to try different types of products for each area.

So, how do we determine our skin type?

There are a number of ways we can determine our skin type from magnifying mirrors to purpose built machines, one which you can easily do at home would be the tissue test.

  1. Take off your makeup
  2. Clean the skin with soap and water
  3. Wait 30 minutes until the glands have worked hard enough
  4. Place a tissue on the face, like a mask, and press lightly for about ten seconds
  5. Remove the handkerchief and observe in the light

Result of the test:

  • There are traces of oil (transparencies in the light) all over the tissue: you probably have oily skin
  • There are traces of oil only in the middle zone (forehead, nose, chin): you probably have mixed skin
  • There is no trace on the tissue: you have normal skin or dry skin

Please note the above technique may give you an idea of your skin type but we would still recommend coming for a skin consultation at one of our clinics where our skin experts can talk through what your skin needs and build you a bespoke treatment and skincare plan.

We consume it daily, whether on purpose or not, helping us to stay healthy and boost our immune systems but did you know the benefits Vitamin C has for the skin?

As an active energizer, it’s a key player in skincare as it helps with cell renewal, leaving your skin glowing with brightening and antioxidant action.

Vitamin C will start to show its results within a few weeks of adding it into your skincare routine, it’s used to prevent aging, reduce wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and spots. Promoting better healing of the epidermis and limits skin inflammations.  A great addition alongside your aesthetic treatments.

The best way to introduce it into your skincare routine is to use a facial cream enriched with moisturizing agents, such as oils. Serums have a higher dose and can contain upto 5 to 15% pure vitamin C. You can mix your serum with your day cream and apply it in the evening or morning!

To brighten the eyes you can also use a Vitamin C eye cream to help address crow’s feet or dark circles.

We also recommend that you space your application to avoid harming the skin, applying your Vitamin C products 2-3 times a week will help with this.

Our top tip: store your vitamin C care in your fridge – when you apply it, the cool consistency will help to tighten your skin!

As soon as the sun comes out we are all prone to try and spend any moment possible basking in it rays. It’s important to realise how harmful UV rays can be on our skin and why adding one extra simple step to your morning routine to protect your skin could reap in rewards your future self will thank you for.

Here are our 5 reasons why its important to use SPF and protect your skin daily:

1.Avoid sunburn

The first advantage to using sunscreen is to avoid sunburn! A painful reminder of intense heat exposure, not only preventing us from continued exposure but also harming our skin by damaging the outer layers which can result to skin peel.

2.Limit the risk of cancer

Skin cancer is one of the most popular types of cancer across the globe. This is caused by continued exposure to harmful rays and sun damage. Using a daily SPF can reduce this risk greatly.

3.Delaying skin aging

Prolonged sun exposure accelerates the aging of the skin, causing sun spots, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

4.Moisturise your skin

As the name suggests, sunscreen is a cream! It helps moisturize your skin so that it is beautiful and soft. Of course, you also have to hydrate from the inside by drinking water too!

5.Nourish your skin

Using sunscreen allows you to have youthful and luminous skin. On the beach or by the pool, by putting on sunscreen, you nourish your silhouette. With skin texture looks smoother and your body firmer.

In this weeks #FreeVideoFriday we recap on the structure and function of skin. Delving deeper into the 3 components which make it up: epidermis, dermis and hypodermis.

When it comes to aesthetic practice, skin can be overlooked. We focus a lot on the anatomy and injection placement but we overlook the skin and its make up. Developing a greater understanding of this can make it easier to understand your patients and what treatments or skincare to recommend to them.
